# Sleep

> Pause the run for a fixed time.

Waits inside a Run before the next step continues. Use it between API calls when a provider asks you to wait. **Stop** cancels an in-flight pause.

On the Graph, the pause always runs for the duration you set. On an Agent tool, **Agent decides** lets the model choose milliseconds on each call.
